About
Most of us, at one time or another in our childhood, caught some kind of bug and put it in a jar with holes in the lid. Most people lose this fascination with insect and other invertebrates as they get older, and often go to great lengths to to keep them away. However, some people never lose that fascination and enjoy keeping insects, spiders, scorpion and millipedes as pets. These are certainly not cuddly pets, but they can still be entertaining and educational.
Our aim is to tell you all about insects, how to care for them and how they benifit to our world
Insects make up 70% of our foods, amazingly, people have found ways to breed them and use for businesses. Eg Bees for honey, silk worms for silk
Also people breed insects (and Arachnids, Chilopoda.....) to eat. some people think "eww, yuck!" but eating insects can be an easy substitute for meat when draughts or floods happen

Stick & Leaf Insects (Phasmids & Mantids)
This group of insects is large and remarkable - relying on camouflage as a defense mechanism, most of these "phasmids" look like sticks, twigs, or leaves. The keeping of stick insects has been popular for many years in the UK and other parts of Europe. As a rule, these insects are fairly easy to care for, reproduce well in captivity, and are fascinating to watch. While they can be handled a bit they are extrememly fragile. In some parts of the world, they are considered possible agricultural pests so importing foreign species may be forbidden. More inforamtion: Care of Stick Insects
Butterflies & Moths
Butterflies & Moths are like the flying artwork in nature, many of which contain many exquisite patterns and color. They are very easy to look after and larger species are sturdy and not that fragile, pairing is easy but getting the right habitat and food can be more of a challenge, some tropical species that are not native to your area can and will be illegal to release as they can disrupt the eco-system. I have bred many Atlas moth (& even now i am still breeding them!) and many large breeds of butterflies and moths as they are more easy to breed and reproduce yet they come at a price, most large species are tropical and nee the proper food, Eg: banna leaves....ect s and they eat many of the tropical hostplant, you can either get the live growing host plant (Can be pricey) or you can buy them in fresh bunches, not ideal but can be still affordable. This all relates to the owl butterfly which is large and can consume alot, most tropical species are easy to get food and breed.
Ants
Ant farms are an interesting way to have keep insects in the home. Easy to keep and fascinating to watch, ants are truly low maintenance pets. Just don't let them escape! The easiest way to obtain ants and start a colony is by purchasing a commercial ant farm.
